    Settlement/Language Bank Centre Services

    Settlement Services:

    Information / Orientation, interpretation, translation, supportive counselling and referral services for immigrants and thier families.
    Staff speak Arabic, Cantonese, English, French, Gujurati, Hebrew, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, Yiddish and languages from former Yugoslavia.

    Volunteer Services:

    Community Volunteers are an integral part of service delivery to immigrants, complementing the basic settlement work through a variety of support programs. We provide recruitment, training, placement, follow-up and recognition for all volunteers.

    Language Bank: Volunteers interpreters and translators assist immigrants, refugees and agencies in the community with communication in over 65 languages. Services include translation of certificates, diplomas and other documents into English as well as other languages. We also provide interpretation for clients and various service providers. Some cost recovery measures are in place.

    Citizenship Classes:

    These classes help newcomers acquire skills, knowledge and confidence for informed and responsible participation in Canadian society.

    Immigrant Language and Vocational Assessment Referral Centre (ILVARC)

    Assessment of English and/or first language proficiency and referral to appropriate English as a second language classes or other programs if required.
    Eligibility determination for Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) and referral to LINC programs

    Couselling in the clients first language regarding education, career planning, accreditation and job search techniques. Staff speak Albanian, Arabic, Cantonese, Chiuchowese, English, French, Gujurati, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin, Pashto, Persian (Dari, Farsi), Polish, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Toishanese, Urdu, Vietnamese and languages from former Yugoslavia.
