Held in the scenic surroundings of Canmore, this film festival gives aspiring filmmakers--or anyone with a camera and an idea to share--a chance to show off their work.
Organized and run by a group of local film enthusiasts, entry into the festival is free with only one criteria: the film must be seven minutes in length or less. Sixteen finalists will be chosen out of all the entires and of those 16, five entries will be awarded Best Film ($1700), Best Creative Concept ($700), Best Cinematography ($700.00), the People's Choice Award ($700.00) and the Awareness Award ($1200) at a public screening held at The Drake Inn.
This all-day event kicks off with a breakfast and features performing artists, guest lecturers, art exhibits, a free outdoor BBQ, an outdoor beer-garden, and much more.
In the festival's inaugural year (2001), more than 50 entries were received, and more than 350 people attended.
