알버타주 Post-secondary Education Quick Facts
- There are now 134,000 full- and part-time post-secondary students in the province.
- Post-secondary funding was cut 19 per cent between 1993 and 1997, going from $896 million to $725 million.
- Reinvestment began in 1997-98, with the first of annual three-per-cent increases. Other money was also committed to create spaces in specific areas, including nursing and education.
- Alberta Learning committed $1.3 billion to post-secondary education this fiscal year.
- 75 per cent of Albertans have taken courses towards a degree, diploma or certificate by the time they are 24.
- Post-secondary facilities can recoup up to 30 per cent of their operating budgets through tuition fees.
