- When completed the residence master plan will bring the total on-campus housing capacity to 3,677 beds, up from 2,523 currently.
- Concept drawings provided indicate at least one phase of the project will see the creation of a student housing plaza that will feature coffee shops and the like as well a summer seating/winter skating area.
Timeline
- Phase 1 – to be completed by June 2015Construction of a 380-bed complex for single-graduate students along Collegiate Road that will later be expanded at a cost of nearly $40 million.Construction of a 200-bed complex for second-, third- and fourth-year along 24th Avenue N.W. at a cost of $24 millionDemoltion of the Norquay, Brewester and Castle building.
- Phase 2 – to be completed by June 2019Additional construction at the Collegiate Road complex to add a further 550 beds at a cost of roughly $65 millionDemolition of the Glacier and Olympus buildings.
- Phase 3 – to be completed by June 2021Construction of a 480-bed complex for first-year students that will link with the Phase 1 complex along 24th Avenue N.W. and cost approximately $43 million.Establishment of a plaza with a summer seating/winter skating area as well as shops.
- Phase 4 – to be completed by June 2026Renovation of the Cascade hall along 24th Avenue to add 381 beds at a cost of $33 million.
