Gal 6:7-10 We will reap at the proper time
It is autumn, the time of harvesting. All of the farmers want to reap much harvest. Likewise, God the farmer wants to reap much harvest. And we also want to reap as much harvest as possible.
Today's scriptures tell us how to reap much harvest. Let's see together.
1. A man reaps what he sows.
A proverb says, "An onion will not produce a rose." and the bible says, "Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles?" (Matt 7:16)
It is quite natural that we will reap much if we sow much, and we will reap less if we sow less, and we will reap nothing if we sow nothing. If we expect to reap much even though we sow less or nothing, we are deceiving ourselves, and it is nonsense.
The bible says, "Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy." (Psalms 126:5) The law "A man reaps what he sows" is not only the earthly law, but also the heavenly law.
Many Korean students come to Canada to learn English. Do you know how to speak English well? I will tell you that if you study English hard, you can speak English well. But if you do not study English hard, you cannot speak English well. Maybe you might laugh because this is common sense, but remember, the law "A man reaps what he sows" is an everlasting law.
2. Let's do good.
One of the distinctive characters of the last days is evilness. People think it is foolish for a man to be honest and to do good.
Nowadays many Korean young people like the bad brother Nolboo more than the good brother Heungboo. They think the honesty of Heungboo is foolishness, and the wickedness of Nolboo is cleverness.
People are envious of evil people for their wealth and success. But the bible says, "Do not be envious of those who do wrong, for like the grass they will soon wither and like the green plants they will soon die away." (Psalms 37:1-2)
"The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction and the one who sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life." (Gal 6:8)
Jesus also said, "All who draw the sword will die by the sword." (Matt 26:52) "Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done." (Rev 22:12)
If we do evil according to our sinful nature, God will pay for that with bad fruit. But if we do good according to the Holy Spirit, God will reward us with good fruit.
"Therefore, if we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." (Gal 6:10) And let's reap much good fruit by sowing the good seed and deed.
3. Don't be weary.
Today's scripture says, "Let us not become weary in doing good.” People sometimes become weary because reaping takes a little longer than we expect. But remember a proverb, "Everything comes to those who wait." Abraham waited 25 years for the fulfilment of God's promise, Jacob 20 years, Joseph 13 years and Moses 40 years.
One of the most difficult things is to be patient. But remember a farmer has to be patient to reap. There is a time for everything and a season for every activity, a time to sow and a time to reap.
Sometimes God's time is different from our time. If God's time is later than our time, we become dejected. But the bible says, "At the proper time we will reap if we do not give up." (Gal 6:9)
Brothers and sisters, do not give up doing good. Do not give up praying to God. Do not give up loving your enemies. Do not give up your vision and dream. For at the proper time, God will fulfil his promise and he will satisfy us. Therefore, "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. Those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land." (Psalms 37:7,9)
