Isaiah 52:7-10 When the Lord returns to Zion
King David marched to Jerusalem to attack the Jebusites and he captured the fortress of Zion and changed its name to the city of David. Therefore the name city of David, city of Jerusalem, and city of Zion are same meaning which symbolizes the city of God, church and the people of God.
In today's scripture the prophet Isaiah brought the hopeful message to Zion. "Listen ! Your watchmen lift up their voices, together they shout for joy." Why ? Because when the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes.
Brothers and sisters, as you know God once left Zion, so that the people perished and were carried to Babyonia as the captives. The Israelites were in slavery there and they lost the vision and dream for their future. It was because God left them.
But they could be saved from the slavery and they could restore the vision and dream for their future because God returned to them. That's why the watchmen shout for joy. And today's scripture says, "Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem." Why ? Because God comforted his people and he redeemed Jerusalem and they could see the salvation of God.
Brothers and sisters, we hate the word 'ruin'. We don't like ruin to come into our life family, business and church. Furthermore Christians do not like Jerusalem to be ruined. But sad to say, Jerusalem was ruined and the people had to leave the city of Jerusalem. That's why we are sad and feel heartache.
But today's scripture says, "Burst into songs of joy together. you ruins of Jerusalem." Why ? Because God will construct Zion again, and he will send the good and faithful people to Zion, and God will save Zion from the power of Satan.
Therefore Zion will not be ruined again, and the ferocious animals will not prowl around Zion again, and the songs of joy will be heard in Zion again, and Zion will be cleansed and decorated with beauty again.
Today God says, "How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good tidings." Let me ask you questions ? Are you the persons who bring good news or bad news ? Does your family(church) become good or bad when you are in your family(church) ?
Christians are not the persons who bring bad news and make the family(society, church) bad. But they are the persons who bring good news and make the family, society and church good. They are joyful persons with good news and vision and dream.
If good men come into the company, the company will be good. But if bad men come into the company, the company will be bad. Likewise if good members come into the church, the church will be good. But if bad members
come into the church, the church will be bad. Therefore we pray, "Lord, let the good persons come to our church ! And do not let the bad persons come to our church. Do not let the bad Satan come to our church."
Brothers and sisters, I ask you to keep away from the bad Satan who brings bad news and ruins us. And I ask you to expel the bad devil. And I ask you to bring good news to each others, and to comfort each others with the good news.
Let's construct ruined Zion, and let's make the miracle together, let's defeat the Satan who brings bad news. And let's make our full effort to keep our family and church from the war. Let's proclaim peace and enjoy peace. Let's invite Jesus the king of peace into our life. Peace will be given to us when Jesus comes to us. Vision and dream will be accomplished to us when God rules over us.
Therefore proclaim, "God rules over our family. He rules over me. He rules over our church so that we are in peace. No one can break this wonderful peace."
Brothers and sisters, I ask you to make Calgary the city of peace and make the Korean society the society of peace and make our church the church of peace. Peace always waits for you who seek after peace. But destruction waits for those who seek after war.
But don't forget. Seeking for peace without Jesus the king of peace is nothing but contradiction. Without Jesus peace will be broken. Without Jesus peace will be trampled. But if Jesus comes, peace will be established in our family society and church.
Therefore invite Jesus the king of peace. Jesus wants to return to Zion. And invite Jesus the Lord of comfort and salvation. Expect Jesus to come into our life, family and church. And sing a song with joy like the watchmen, and praise Jesus. "There's peace in my heart that the world never gave. A peace it can not take away∼♬"
Brothers and sisters, today is the day of good news, today is the day of peace, and today is the day of salvation. Therefore we proclaim, "We are very glad because God rules over us. We are joyful because God returns to Zion !"
Brothers and sisters, let's rejoice together. Let's shout with joy, for God rules over us. And peace, comfort, happiness are with us. Today is the day that God returns to Zion. And today is the day of construction. And today is the day of joy.
When God returns to us, our ruined life(family, church, society) will be restored, peace will be established, our problems will be solved, and good news will be brought to us. Therefore proclaim good news, proclaim peace, proclaim salvation. Amen !
